What is the PADI Underwater Navigation Course?
The PADI Underwater Navigation Course is designed to help scuba divers understand the intricate navigation system underwater, using a compass, natural navigation cues, and methods to estimate the distance and time to reach a particular destination. The course involves three navigation dives where you will learn about various techniques of navigation, including patterns navigation, natural navigation, estimation of distance, underwater communication, and more.
What are the qualifications required to do the PADI Underwater Navigation Course?
To enrol in the PADI Underwater Navigation Course, you should hold a PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification or equivalent. You should also be able to swim at least 200 meters without any assistance. For those who are already certified in the Adventure Diver program with a navigation dive, this will count towards this course.

If you want to learn the basic concepts of navigation online, you can opt for the E-learning program offered by PADI. By doing this, you can reduce the course duration to just two days, enabling you to start with the practical part of the course almost immediately.
Underwater Navigator Course Schedule
At Poseidon Diving Centre, Sri Lanka, you can complete the PADI Underwater Navigation Course in just a single day with three dives. Usually, the course starts in the morning, followed by three open water dives with a certified instructor. Every dive is designed to introduce and refine individual navigation skills.
